What the free water analysis actually covers
The in-home water analysis is genuinely free, with no obligation and no charge whether or not you buy anything. A technician tests at your tap, in your house, on your water — not a generic regional average. We look for:
- Iron. New Jersey treats iron above 0.3 ppm as an action level. It is behind orange staining in toilets, tubs and laundry, and a metallic taste.
- Manganese. Action level 0.05 ppm. Black or brown specks, dark staining, and a bitter edge to the taste.
- Hardness. Scale on fixtures and glassware, soap that will not lather, shortened water-heater life.
- pH. Low pH is common on South Jersey wells and quietly eats copper pipe and fixtures from the inside.
- Hydrogen sulphide. The rotten-egg smell, usually strongest on the hot side.
- Total dissolved solids, taste, odour and clarity, plus whatever your specific complaint is.
We explain what each reading means in plain language and what, if anything, needs doing. Cost depends on your water test results, and every quote follows the analysis — we price the job before any work starts.
When you should get your water tested
- Buying or selling a home on a well. New Jersey’s Private Well Testing Act requires testing before a property with a private well changes hands, and the results go to the buyer.
- Anything changed. New staining, a new smell, cloudiness, or a taste that was not there last month.
- After flooding or well work. Flooded wellheads and recent pump or casing work both warrant a retest.
- Annually on a private well. Nobody tests it for you — well water is not monitored the way a public supply is.
- Before buying equipment. Sizing a softener or filter without a test is guesswork, and it is how people end up with equipment that does not fix the problem.
Water testing questions
Is the water test really free?
Yes. The in-home water analysis is genuinely free, with no obligation and no charge whether or not you buy anything from us.
How long does it take?
Most in-home analyses take under an hour, including walking you through the results and looking at your existing equipment and plumbing. You get the findings there and then, not a week later.
Do I need a test if I am on public water?
Often yes. A public supply is treated and monitored before it leaves the plant, but hardness, chlorine taste and odour, and anything picked up from your own service line and internal plumbing are still yours to deal with. Testing at your tap is the only way to know what is actually coming out of it.
What happens if the test finds a problem?
We explain what the reading means, what it is doing to your water and your plumbing, and what the options are. Cost depends on your water test results, and we price the job before any work starts. Financing is available. There is no obligation to do anything.
Do I need a test to sell my house?
If the property is on a private well, yes — New Jersey’s Private Well Testing Act requires it before the sale, and the results must be given to the buyer. Do it early so there is time to correct anything it turns up.
Where do you do free water testing?
Across the eight New Jersey counties we serve: Burlington, Camden, Atlantic, Gloucester, Salem, Cape May, Mercer and Monmouth. See areas we serve. We do not currently serve Cumberland or Ocean County.
